Celebrities mourn Muhammad Ali’s demise Born in Louisville in 1942 as Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr., Ali began boxing at the age of 12. Muhammad Ali is no more. The three-time world heavyweight boxing champion passed on at a Phoenix hospital, aged 74 after he was hospitalised for a respiratory problem on June 2. One of the greatest boxers in history, Ali retired in 1981 and soon found signs of sluggishness and neurological damage. He thereafter received treatment for Parkinson’s disease.
