Presidency reportedly begins investigations into alleged links of Patience and Goodluck Jonathan to Niger Delta Avengers
The Presidency has reportedly begun investigations into the alleged links of former President Jonathan and his wife Patience to the militant group, Niger Delta Avengers.
A break away group from the notorious militant group known as the Reformed Niger Delta Avengers had last week released a statement indicting the former President and other prominent Nigerians like Raymond Dokpesi, Peter Odili, Nyesom Wike, Olisa Metuh and others as sponsors of the militant group. They have all since denied the allegation.
According to Premium Times, a source within the Presidency said preliminary investigations indicated that some of the oil installations that were attacked in the Niger Delta had actually been mined while President Jonathan was in power, just before the 2015 election, by some of the militants and operatives known to be very close to him.

According to Premium Times, a source within the Presidency said preliminary investigations indicated that some of the oil installations that were attacked in the Niger Delta had actually been mined while President Jonathan was in power, just before the 2015 election, by some of the militants and operatives known to be very close to him.
Speaking, the anonymous government official said
“The mining was meant to be a “Plan B should they be removed from Aso Rock. The plan then was to cause confusion if the 2015 presidential election did not go as expected, in favour of the then incumbent. However, when the former president surprisingly conceded the election to President Mohammadu Buhari, according to the source, there was both disappointment and confusion in the camp of those who had designed the plan, causing a suspension of the whole agenda. But by February this year, it was learnt, the plan was reopened as several of the backers were getting investigated on different corruption cases. Mr. Jonathan himself was concerned that himself and his wife could be prosecuted, including on money-laundering charges where investigators said evidence against the wife has already been amassed. It was at that point that the bombing activities under the banner of the Niger Delta Avengers started. Even the former President himself had been reported while on a foreign trip as saying he knew he was under probe. This was after the plan to start the bombing had become fully operational according to intelligence reports”The source continued saying
"After the Plan B was restored, the ‘militant operatives’ who mined the oil and gas installations only had to arrange for how they would be detonated at a distance at the wish and timing of the NDA, their backers and sponsors said to include the former president, his wife, Government Tompolo, Mr. Kinglsey Kuku and Olisa Metuh among others. The mining was done by some of the militants that the previous government had trained under the amnesty programme, and those who acquired the needed expertise, besides their knowledge of the Niger Delta creeks and terrain. Experts working with the federal government are now said to be working to determine how to discover if there are still many more oil and gas installations that have been mined and explore the best means of demining them.” The source added that the attacks on the pipelines in the Niger Delta started so that the Buhari-led administration will seek a political solution to the anti-corruption war and private investigations of the Former President, his wife and other political associates “The game plan of Mr. Jonathan and his associates backing the NDA was to cause enough economic damage in order to force the Buhari administration to pursue a political solution to the corruption cases on which investigations were already advancing against them. This is to avoid prosecution and the attendant unprecedented shame of having a former president go to jail”.The former President had on August 7th released a statement through his media aide, Ikechukwu Eze, denying claims that he was a sponsor of the Niger Delta Avengers.

The driver stated that he suddenly lost control of the vehicle and that led to knocking down the boy.
4. The burnt corpse of the other passenger was recovered from underneath the accident vehicle by the emergency responders and the driver identified her as Miss Ngozichukwu Philomina Leriakawa (referred to as #NgoziOnyekwere in the social media post) also NYSC member serving in Akwa Ibom and remains of the 10-year-old boy found by the road side were removed and deposited at the mortuary. 9. That on 29th July, 2016 the family of Late Ngozichukwu Philomina Leriakawa (#NgoziOnyekwere) informed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Nsit Ibom in Akwa Ibom State that they have resolved to opt for "a peaceful settlement" with Dr. Ugochukwu Raphael Eze - driver of the car - and that they wish to withdraw from further police actions or any court proceedings against the driver regarding the death of Ngozi (#NgoziOnyekwere).
10. The family of the late 10-year-old boy had earlier submitted same request as stated in S/No.9 above to the police and backed with a Court Affidavit in respect of the case.
Based on the foregoing, NPF-CRU has since closed case - CRU278939 and alleged inaction against the police referred as false.
The victim was not set ablaze by a mob, the motive behind the continuous misinformation of the public by some individuals on the social media remain unclear. The family of Miss Ngozichukwu Philomina Leriakawa (being referred to as #NgoziOnyekwere) is fully informed of the circumstances of this case.

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which has an outstanding reputation for showing the best films from around the world, announced yesterday its selection of the captivating movie 93 Days for this year’s screening.
The highly anticipated premiere of 93 Days will take place at the TIFF on Friday, September 9th, 2016 at 9.30PM at the Isabel Bader Theatre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
93 Days has been labelled as one of the most important movies to come out of Nigeria. The true-life movie details the Ebola epidemic in Nigeria, which had the entire nation at a standstill.
The movie gives a true account of how Nigeria was faced with the first case of the Ebola Virus and the victory the country achieved when the disease was eradicated after 93 Days.
Ebola found its way to Nigeria when American-Liberian, Patrick Sawyer (Keppy Ekpeyong Bassey) collapsed at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and was rushed to First Consultant Hospital for exhibiting symptoms of fever. After careful observation, the team at First Consultant Hospital led by Dr Ameyo Adadevoh (Bimbo Akintola) believed Mr Sawyer’s illness was more severe than fever and not long enough; he was diagnosed with the Ebola Virus Disease. Then, the journey began on how to control the spread of the life-threatening virus that could result into a national outbreak.
“93 Days is a masterfully crafted incredible story of bravery and sacrifice and is definitely a must see. It showcases the best of Nigeria, it’s powerful, gripping and an emotive piece. I am proud. “ – Bolanle Austen Peters, Producer, 93 Days.
The suspense filled thriller directed by award-winning movie director, Steve Gukas features the best of international and African movie acts such as TIFF rising star, Somkele Iyamah Idhalama, Danny Glover, Tim Reid, Alastair Mackenzie, Bimbo Akintola, Keppy Ekpeyong Bassey, Bimbo Manuel, Charles Okafor, Tina Mba, Gideon Okeke, Paul Adams, Francis Onwochei amongst others.

Britney Spears to perform at MTV Video Music Awards for the first time in 9 years
34 year old American singer, Britney Spears is set to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards later this month, for the first time in nine years, MTV announced on their website on Tuesday night.
The network announced the news through a video which showed a python slithering its way around Spears' dressing room — and obvious ode to her iconic 2001 performance and says she will turn heads at this year's performance.
"The VMAs don't just give you a stage, they give you a story. Some way of taking a fraction of a second and making it live forever," the songstress said in the video. Before you know it, it's history. Before you know it, it's Britney, b----," she continued.
The 34-year-old's comeback will see her perform her new single, "Make Me," with rapper G-Eazy.
The last time she performed at the VMA's was in 2007, and the performance was a woeful one as she lip synced and danced off beat, a performance that was dubbed her comeback performance after completing rehab and infamously shaving her head.

When actress Cossy Ojiakor and musician Eldee intervened, asking him not to judge, he said this was an exception as it was supposed to be a day of holy matrimony. Does anyone agree with him?

'Nigeria beating Brazil at Atlanta 96 inspired me to become a footballer' - Mikel Obi
Team Nigeria captain and Chelsea FC of England midfielder John Obi Mikel has revealed that Nigeria beating Brazil at Atlanta 1996 was what inspired him to become a professional footballer. And Mikel feels if the Under 23 team wins gold in Rio it'll inspire another generation of young footballers in Nigeria.
“I remember a little . I remember that day I was sleeping , my father woke me up. I remember the goals,” Mikel told TV Globo. “This inspired me to take the game seriously and to be who I am today . I hope we can now win gold again to inspire young children in Nigeria.”Mikel, 29, has won the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, Europa League and African Cup of Nations, but no Olympic gold.
“It is something missing in my career. I never played the Olympics, this is my first . My goal here is to win the gold medal, it is what moves me. Coming here I spoke to the coach, we are all here walking in the same direction, me, him and the rest of the players . “That’s the reason I’m here. I hope to return to the house with gold.”
